2nd & 3rd Class

2nd and 3rd Class

Ms. Downes

Welcome to 2nd and 3rd Class. There are 31 children in our class. We are very excited about all the new things we will be learning this year.

Let the fun begin!

September has been a very busy month in our classroom. Have a look at some of the activities we have been doing this month.

Timeline time!

What better way to start the new school year than to learn all about about the wonderful children in our classroom.  The children designed, created and presented fantastic timelines about their lives! Have a look at some of the wonderful creations.

We had the most wonderful experience presenting our projects to all the pupils and staff of Lissycasey N.S.  We were dressed up for Halloween too so this added to the excitement!  Pop over to the gallery and have a look!

We had lots of fun making thermometers.

The finished products!

We learned all about states of matter. We expermineted with solids, liquids and gases.

We even changed a solid into a liquid. Can you guess what we are holding in these pictures?

We wore our jerseys to raise money for Sr.Ethel and Missionvale.

We love using maps to learn more about our beautiful county.

October brought many exciting lessons too!

We were learning about faming and milking long ago in history so we decided to make our own farms for art class. Our classroom got VERY messy during this lesson!!!

We learned that separating materials is called chromatography.

We experimented using markers, coffee filter and water.

The results were very surprising.

The children were also very busy this month reporting on the latest news in Co. Clare!

November

We put our procedural writing skills to the test by making delicious white chocolate snowmen.  We began by writing the ingredients and method on the whiteboard.  We made sure to follow the recipe carefully.  Here's how our snowmen turned out.

Unfortunately some of our snowmen melted but they still tasted delicious!

March 2017

We had great fun sorting 3-D shapes today!

We have been working on report writing this month.  In order to become better at identifying important information in a text we use a colour coding strategy.  We then record the key words under the correct subheading.  Once we had recorded all of the key words we worked together to write a full report on foxes.  We chose the fox as we learned about this animal during a recent lesson on boglands.

Bhíomar ag déanamh drámaíocht an seachtain seo caite as Gaeilge. An scéal ná, bhí fearg ar Sheán mar bhí Síofra ag féachaint ar chlár ceoil agus bhí cluiche mór ar siúl ar an gcainéal eile. Bhí leadrán ar Oisín mar ní raibh aon suim aige sa chlár ceoil. Bhí fearg ar Dhaidí mar bhí na páistí ag troid.
